A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.

The win also means he has achieved 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to get a title is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving play style and regular outbursts on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an better service.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

He rescued 4 early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
